How to Install a Dictionary on KOReader

Compatible with all KOReader installations across supported devices and platforms. Official documentation is also available on GitHub.

1. Download the file

   Download the dictionary file to your computer (pick the StarDict format, it should be named something like dict-XX-YY.zip).

2. Unzip the file

   Extract the archive to obtain the dictionary folder.

3. Locate the dictionary directory

   Copy the unzipped dictionary folder into the appropriate directory depending on your device or operating system:

   • Android: /sdcard/koreader/data/dict
   • Cervantes: /mnt/private/koreader/data/dict
   • Kindle: koreader/data/dict
   • Kobo: .adds/koreader/data/dict/
   • PocketBook: applications/koreader/data/dict
   • Linux: $HOME/.config/koreader/data/dict
   • macOS: $HOME/Library/Application Support/koreader/data/dict

4. Launch KOReader

   Open KOReader on your device. The dictionary will be automatically detected and ready to use for text lookups.
